Intro

On Farmen, 16 contestants live on a farm for weeks, and the best moments rarely happen on cue. We gave the production one rig that lets them see and hear all of it, live, from a control room about a kilometre away.

Use Cases

  • Reality formats with many contestants
  • Big outdoor locations
  • Producers who can't be on location every day

What the production gets

When 16 contestants live on a farm for weeks, the moments that matter rarely happen on cue. You need to catch all of them, without the tech getting in the way.

On Farmen for TV 2 and Strix, the production got one rig from one partner. We planned, rigged and ran the sound, comms, cameras and live pictures.

  • You see and hear everything on the farm, live.
  • Crews choose between 6 listening channels.
  • Producers can listen in from the office, or on the move.
  • One point of contact for the whole rig.

Sound from every corner of the farm

Contestants wear Wisycom mics all day. We placed antennas across the whole site, so the sound stays solid wherever people wander.

Everything is recorded on site with Sound Devices, a name most sound crews trust. The hosts wear Sennheiser in-ear monitors.

Listening channels for the camera crews

Riedel Bolero is the wireless intercom most productions already know. Here, 6 channels are set aside for listening, and each crew picks the one they need. The mix can be set up however you like. Our Fade app is connected to the whole system and is the app the teams use when they need to route audio.

9 cameras, ready to shoot

We supplied 9 Sony FX6 cameras with everything they need: lenses, tripods and Easyrigs. Some were set up for a small team with a director and a camera operator. Others were built for VJs who shoot and direct on their own.

For the competitions, we brought a crane as well.

Live pictures straight to the gallery

Four cameras roam freely with DJI wireless video. Their pictures land in the control room about a kilometre away, so the gallery sees things as they happen.

The control room

The gallery watches every feed on screen, talks to the crews over Bolero and has dedicated listening spots. Listening runs through Fade, a listening app we tailor to each production.

Listen from the office with Fade

With Fade, you don't need to be on location to follow the action. The production office, the line producer or a producer working elsewhere can listen live.

The audio is encrypted and arrives with almost no delay. It works on the location wifi, or over mobile data when you're on the move.

We rig, you produce

We rig before the shoot and take everything down afterwards. We recommend having one of our technicians on location, and we can also support you remotely.

Optional Add-ons

  • Technician on site
  • Remote support
  • Fade remote listening

FAQ

Do you just rent out the gear, or do you set it up too?

We do the lot. We rig before the shoot and take it all down after. We recommend having one of our technicians on location while you film, and we can also support you remotely.

Can the camera crews listen to what's happening?

Yes. There are 6 listening channels on Riedel Bolero, and any crew can pick the one they need. Each crew chooses what they want to hear and switches it on and off themselves in Fade or on their Bolero.

Can producers listen in without being on location?

Yes, with Fade. The app works from the production office or on the move, it is encrypted, the delay is barely noticeable, and it can be adapted to your production's needs.

How large an area can you cover?

On Farmen we covered the whole farm. We plan the antennas for every location, so coverage follows where you actually film.

Does this work for a smaller production?

Yes. Everything comes in modules, so we scale mics, cameras and comms to your format and budget.
